What is Mountain View PAL?

Mountain View PAL’s mission is to foster mutual understanding between youth and police officers through a non-confrontational setting and, in this way, divert them away from gangs and criminal activity.  MVPAL will be offering a large variety of recreational and leadership development activities to kids between the ages of 5 and 18.

What types of programs does Mountain View PAL offer?

Mountain View PAL was launched in September 2006 and recently began offering programming.  For a list of upcoming events, please visit our events page.

How is Mountain View PAL funded?

Mountain View PAL is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is dependant on grants and donations for its success.  PAL is not funded throught the county or city budgets.  PAL is run with the support of Mountain View Police Officers and staff who donate their time to continue the program.   If you or you bussiness would like make a tax deducable donation to PAL you can do so by contacting the PAL office and the number listed below or  make an online donation.  Mountain View PAL’s non-profit tax ID number is 23-7072928.

How can I help support Mountain View PAL?

Mountain View PAL is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and all contributions are tax deductible.  Mountain View PAL offers numerous sponsorship and volunteer opportunities.  For information on our Sponsorship programs and benefits, please call or email MVPAL.

To learn more about becoming a PAL volunteer, please contact us at [email protected] or (650) 903-6139.  All volunteers will be fingerprinted with LiveScan and will undergo an interview before receiving a volunteer assignment.  If you are a high school student seeking to fulfill community service requirements for school, we offer a number of diverse opportunities including special events assistance, youth interaction and mentorships, and office work.

If you or your organization wishes to partner with Mountain View PAL to bring a new program to our youth, please prepare a brief (one page) proposal describing your proposed program and submit it to us at [email protected].

Who runs Mountain View PAL?

Mountain View PAL is proud to have the support of the MVPD staff, community members, business leaders, and elected officials  who serve on our Boards of Directors. 

How is Mountain View PAL affiliated with California PAL?

Mountain View PAL is a member of California PAL (Cal PAL), an umbrella organization providing assistance to PALs throughout California.  In July 2005, MVPD applied for and received approval for membership in Cal PAL.  Membership in Cal PAL is integral to the success of the Mountain View PAL.  Cal PAL not only provides educational opportunities through conferences and workshops and liability insurance at a significantly reduced cost, but it also provides fund-raising assistance and programming at little or no cost.  Membership in Cal PAL enables the Mountain View PAL to participate in State-wide PAL events such as the annual Camporee camping trip.  Other Cal PAL-sponsored activities include beach play days; trips to Tahoe; "Life After High School" leadership and motivational workshops; Sacramento Experience Day where students are given a chance to see government in action; and boxing, golf, martial arts, basketball and soccer tournaments.  Typically, these events are offered at a cost of $5 per participant or less.
